The wind was sweeping, biting pink
The wispy, red streams down her cheek
Gliding, gracefully, her hairs in place
Tonight was so unusually sweet.
A wolf loomed in the nearby shadows
A presence that famished her freedom
A presence that took her good will
She barely whispered a “hello?”
“Hello?” howled the wide-eyed wolf.
The blood-red sunset full in sight
Began to dim, revealing the night
A monstrous wolf howled in the moonlight
She stopped and stared, ready to fight
She was fated to fear
This monstrous wolf
A predator within
Eating her soul
Bittersweet longing filled her heart
Slowly, breaking her soul apart
To know what’s known,
To hear what’s heard
To feel her fears
And speak new words
To rhyme in verse
And not be cursed
Her life comes second
Her love comes first
All freedom taken
All good will gone
How could she live
Without a song
The wolf now with the freshest face
Wild, frowning, in distaste
Softly whispered a warm embrace
Do not be scared, for I am Grace
Moonlight slithered and stuck
To the only soul alive it struck
It woke the wolf; a careful beast
Silently stalking, to say the least
She wandered a pretty pond over
Feeling fierce and hungry, fully sober
She watched and waited ‘til she could see
A fiery soul, smelling so sweet
The wind still sweeping, biting pink
The wispy, red streams down her cheek
Gliding, gracefully, her hairs in place
Tonight, oh so, unusually sweet!
